SaltlightThe Glass Shore

A turn-based RPG that runs in a browser tab. The lamp on the island of Marea has gone dark, the sea has set into still glass, and things are walking out of it. Four keepers climb from the harbor to the lamp to light it again.

  • Turn-based, defended in real time
  • 30 to 45 minutes
  • Original soundtrack by Null Relay
  • Nothing to install

Recorded

Captured from the game, as it runs.

The clip and the stills come straight from the build you can play above. No renders, no paintovers.

How it plays

Explore the island. Hold the line in every fight.

  1. 01

    Walk the shore

Third person, one hand-made island: harbor, sea wall, tide caves, a cliff shelf, a windy plateau and the lamp terrace. The glass creatures stand in plain sight. Strike one first and your party opens the fight.

  2. 02

    Fight in turns

Pick a skill, spend action points, and press on the beat of each strike for extra damage. Free Aim shoots shields off and hits weak points.

  3. 03

    Defend for real

On the enemy's turn nothing is automatic. Every hit is dodged, parried or jumped in real time, from its tell. Parry a whole string and the party strikes back.

  4. 04

    Rest at a lamp

Heal, save, and spend points at camp. Each area teaches a new creature before it starts mixing them.

The keepers

Four keepers, one lamp.

  • Tidecaller · Staff

    Ines

Water and wind: soaks, quick gusts, a heal, and a riptide that reaches every enemy.

  • Lanternguard · Mace and shield

    Bram

Trades between two stances: Ward, which takes the hits for the party, and Blaze, which sweeps fire down the line.

  • Cartographer · Rifle

    Sol

Every good shot leaves a Mark. One Charted Shot spends them all and breaks whatever it hits.

  • Retired keeper · Cane and lantern

    Tomasa

Joins on the cliff shelf. Heals the whole party, brings the fallen back, and blinds the glass with her lamp.

Made by me

Mine, start to finish.

I wrote the code, directed the art, animated it and designed the battles. It runs on three.js and plain JavaScript, loads its models and score as you go, and keeps the same timing rules on a keyboard, a gamepad or a phone. The soundtrack is mine too, released as Null Relay, my music project.

  • three.js r185
  • WebGL2

  • Plain JavaScript
  • Web Audio
  • Gamepad API
