HollowtideAn open-world action RPG
Pixel-art heroes in a small, lamp-lit 3D world, playing in a browser tab. Walk out of Fernwatch into the green vales, clear the camps along the roads, cross into the red canyons, and step through the rune circles to the bosses waiting below. Alone, or with up to three friends.
- Real-time fights: dash, jump, combo
- Co-op for up to four
- Keyboard, gamepad or phone
- Nothing to install
Play Hollowtide
About 7 MB before the title screen, up to 43 MB as the world loads around you.
Best with a keyboard and mouse, or a gamepad. On a phone it plays sideways with touch controls: open it in its own tab, or add it to your home screen.

How it plays
Quick fights, in a world that keeps moving.
- 01
Head out
Leave Fernwatch on foot. Every road has camps, roaming packs, wrecks and shrines to find, and the people in town have work for you. The day turns to night and the weather changes while you walk.
- 02
Fight in real time
Enemies mark the ground before they strike. Dash through the red, jump the ring at your feet, and strike back: quick skills leave a mark on the enemy, and the right relic sets it off.
- 03
Swap heroes
Solo you carry all three and switch with Tab in the middle of a fight. Levels earn points for new versions of each skill.
- 04
Bring friends
Host a party and send the link: up to four heroes share one world, its sky and its bosses. Voice chat is built in and heard from where each hero stands, with a switch to talk across the map.
The heroes
Three heroes, one world.
Spells · Staff and relics
Relic-warden
Ember bolts and a tide splash to mark the enemy, then relics to set the marks off: a dragon brazier, a storm gyroscope, a lance of rime.
Reach · Harpoon
Harpooner
A long thrust, a hook that drags enemies in, an anchor dropped where they stand, and a gaff pull for the one that got away.
Speed · Twin daggers
Duskblade
Dashing cuts, a fan of frost knives, a mark of black ice, and Hundred Cuts, a blur through six enemies.
Made by me
I made every part of it.
I wrote the code, composed the music, directed the art, and designed the world and the combat. It runs on three.js and TypeScript, streams its world in as you walk, keeps a party in step through a relay at the edge, and plays the same with a keyboard, a gamepad or a phone held sideways.
